Compute-and-Forward on a Multiaccess Relay Channel: Coding and Sum-Rate Optimization

چکیده
We consider a system in which two users communicate with a destination with the help of a halfduplex relay. Based on the compute-and-forward scheme, we develop and evaluate the performance of coding strategies that are of network coding spirit. In this framework, instead of decoding the users’ information messages, the destination decodes two integer-valued linear combinations that relate the transmitted codewords. Two decoding schemes are considered. In the first one, the relay computes one of the linear combinations and then forwards it to the destination. The destination computes the other linear combination based on the direct transmissions. In the second one, accounting for the side information available at the destination through the direct links, the relay compresses what it gets using Wyner-Ziv compression and conveys it to the destination. The destination then computes the two linear combinations, locally. For both coding schemes, we discuss the design criteria, and derive the allowed sum-rate. Next, we address the power allocation and the selection of the integer-valued coefficients to maximize the offered sum-rate; an iterative coordinate descent method is proposed. The analysis shows that our coding schemes can offer substantial gains over standard relaying techniques. The results are illustrated through some numerical examples.

On the Achievable Rate-Regions for the Gaussian Two-way Diamond Channels
In this channel,we study rate region of a Gaussian two-way diamond channel which operates in half-duplex mode. In this channel, two transceiver (TR) nodes exchange their messages with the help of two relay nodes. We consider a special case of the Gaussian two-way diamond channels which is called Compute-and-Forward Multiple Access Channel (CF-MAC). In the CF-MAC, the TR nodes transmit their mes...

In this paper, our objective is maximizing total sum-rate subject to power constraints on total relay transmit power or individual relay powers, for amplify-and-forward single-antenna relay-based wireless communication networks. We derive a closed-form solution for the total power constraint optimization problem and show that the individual relay power constraints optimization problem is a quad...
متن کاملPower Allocation Strategies in Block-Fading Two-Way Relay Networks
This paper aims at investigating the superiority of power allocation strategies, based on calculus of variations in a point-to-point two-way relay-assisted channel incorporating the amplify and forward strategy. Single and multilayer coding strategies for two cases of having and not having the channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters are studied, respectively. Using the notion of cal...
متن کاملOn the Sum-Capacity of Degraded Gaussian Multiaccess Relay Channels
The sum-capacity is studied for a K-user degraded Gaussian multiaccess relay channel (MARC) where the multiaccess signal received at the destination from the K sources and relay is a degraded version of the signal received at the relay from all sources, given the transmit signal at the relay. An outer bound on the capacity region is developed using cutset bounds. An achievable rate region is ob...
متن کاملCFMA (Compute-Forward Multiple Access) and its Applications in Network Information Theory
While both fundamental limits and system implementations are well understood for the point-to-point communication system, much less is developed for general communication networks. This thesis contributes towards the design and analysis of advanced coding schemes for multi-user communication networks with structured codes. The first part of the thesis investigates the usefulness of lattice code...
